In 1981, I took my first trip to Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. I couldn't have known it then, but that one visit would turn into nearly fifty more over the decades since — and a love for that lake that never let go.
Life has taken me a long way from Minnesota. I've lived in New Orleans, Austin, and Houston, among other places, and in each one I found myself chasing the same feeling: a good lake, a slower pace, somewhere that felt like home even when it wasn't. Pokegama Lake taught me to love that feeling in the first place, and I've been chasing it ever since.
What I never found, in any of those places, was apparel that actually understood it. Plenty of brands sell “lake life” as a vibe — a generic sunset, a generic dock, a generic anchor. Almost none of them are about one specific lake: the one you grew up on, the one your family still goes back to every summer, the one that's less a vacation spot than a second hometown.
That's what Lakeline Apparel is for. We design for people who love one particular lake — not lakes in general. It started with Pokegama Lake, because that's where it started for me. Grand Lake in Oklahoma and Lake Travis in Texas came next, because a good lake deserves the same thing no matter where it is — and Lake Travis found me right back in Austin, one of the places I've called home.
I hope to keep coming back to Pokegama Lake for the rest of my life. Wherever your lake is, I hope you feel the same way about it — and I hope something in this shop helps you show it.
